Chorrillos District (Av. Defensores del Morro, Lima) – this is a dynamic seaside district of Lima, and one of Peru’s prime beach areas. During the 19th century, it was a playground for the local aristocracy, until it incurred heavy damage when the War of the Pacific (1879-1883) turned that beach into a war zone. That, as well as being struck by a devastating earthquale in 1940. Nowadays, development is taking place here again, while attracting more and more Lima sunbathers, as well as surfers.
