Lucerna 80s & 90s Video Club
Lucerna 80s & 90s Video Club (Vodickova 36, New Town, Prague 1) – this large nightclub, as the name implies, plays mainly pop and dance tunes from the 80s and 90s (when MTV gave exposure to many New Wave and pop stars – from Michael Jackson, to Duran Duran, U2, Simple Minds, George Michael (when he headlined the duo “Wham UK”), Tears for Fears, Madonna, and whichever musical acts that made videos of their songs (since many of those videos are actually played on a big screen here on Fridays & Saturdays – as part of Lucerna’s “Video Parties”). Due to the club’s large size, there are also live bands playing various types of music (even jazz).
BTW: during the 80s, there were “cutting edge” clubs known then as “videoteques” (which played often unedited or censored versions of hit songs like Duran Duran’s “Girls on Film”). Located near Wenceslas Square, Lucerna is not hard to find.
