Galle National Museum (Church Street, Galle) — This building is one of the oldest structures in the forts and is from the early Dutch period. A long one-story building with a colonnaded front veranda, it is typical of Dutch colonial architecture of the time. This building was once the barracks for junior officials of the Dutch East India Company (VOC). The museum is rather basic but contains some interesting objects from the past. There is a large collection of ancient masks used for festive and religious occasions. Admission: Rs. 300 per person. Hours: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm (daily, except Sundays, Mondays, and national holidays).
