PUNTA CANA – RECREATION
This area cannot be called a luxury enclave unless it offered golf. PCRC has three golf courses: “La Cana” and “Corales” (both of which are seaside and designed by golf architect Pete Dye), and “Hacienda” which is further inland.
Cap Cana has the seaside “Punta Espada” golf course (designed by golfer Jack Nicklaus). The owners of Cap Cana played up their golf credentials by hosting the “Cap Cana Championship” golf tournament from 2008 to 2010 — done in part to promote real estate sales. Both this course, and PCRC’s are considered among the best the Caribbean has to offer golf enthusiasts.
Within the Bávaro area, some of the all-inclusive resorts (such as Barceló, Ocean Blue, Iberostar, and the recently-built Hard Rock Casino & Hotel Punta Cana) have their own golfing areas for their guests.
