Taberna Queirolo

Taberna Queirolo (Gen. Manuel Vivanco, Pueblo Libre, Lima) – located just a couple of blocks away from the Museo Nacional de Arqueología, this is an old school Peruvian bar that’s a hit with visitors for its powerful Pisco. It’s also known for its food – ranging from “huevera” platters, to “butifarra” sandwiches (a.k.a. “jamon del pais” – creole ham), as well as local dishes lke “cau cau” (potatoes with tripe), and “tacu tacu” (fried beans and rice).
The same family that opened this bar & restaurant back in 1880 (the Queirolo family of Italy) also went on to launch the Santiago Queirolo liquor company (the best-known and most highly-regarded producers of wine and pisco in Peru).
